Hiking Gregory Sanborn (Brownfield Bog) WMA
BROWNFIELD, Maine - October 07, 2017 - Blazing oranges and bright red foliage greeted us this afternoon as we drove into the access road. Fall is a great time of year to visit this bog. Our hike was just over two hours. We were well rewarded with great views all around...plus a quart of cranberries! This hike is highly recommended!
[The Brownfield Bog is now known as Gregory Sanborn Wildlife Management Area.]
Here's how to get there:
If you’re coming from Brownfield on Route 160, take a left onto Lords Hill Road. Bog Road is almost immediately on your left. It is a dirt road, and you can park at the gate or continue to the small shack and turnaround. From there, walk along the road all the way to Saco River if you wish. There are some small detours.
